Symptoms

When attempting to access the Document Attachment window from Collections Management Notes, you encounter one of the following errors:

Wrong number of arguments to ‘OpenWindow”

“Unhandled script exception: Bad Datatype detected for operation”

Reason(s)

With the release of GP 2018 R2, a new parameter was added to the Document Attachment process. Due to this, we now have two separate builds of Collections Management for GP 2018. One for GP 2018 R2 (build 18.00.0628) and one for prior builds (18.00.0496 and prior). The errors encountered above indicate the build of Collections Management installed is not the correct build for your GP version.

Resolution(s)

Wrong number of arguments to ‘OpenWindow”

This error is encountered if you are currently on GP 2018 R2 and the current build of Collections Management installed is for prior GP 2018 builds.

This can be resolved by simply completing the Collections Management upgrade process with the GP 2018 R2 installation media. The media can be obtained at the following link:

DOWNLOAD COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT

“Unhandled script exception: Bad Datatype detected for operation”

This error is encountered if you are on a build of GP 2018 prior to R2 and have the GP 2018 R2 Collections Management build installed.

This will require one additional step when completing the installation process:

  1. Download the appropriate GP 2018 installation media for Collections Management:
    1. DOWNLOAD COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT
  2. Prior to completing the installation steps provided in the release notes, navigate to the GP code folder and rename the current CPRO.dic (by default the GP code folder will be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2018)
  3. Complete the install/upgrade steps detailed in the release notes provided with the installation media.
